CAN YOU REMEMBER?
By Marian Powell

Can you remember when you weren't saved and you did whatever you wanted to do? I can because I remind myself every so often so that I won't forget where God has brought me.

Can you remember how you used to party?
....how you used to drink?
....how you used to fornicate?
....how you used to curse?
....how you used to fight?
....how you used to talk about other people?
....how you used to hurt others?
....how you didn't care about yourself?
....how you used to dress?
....how you used to shack?
....how you used to roll your eyes?
....how you used to dress?
....how you used to think that you were better than others?

And the list goes on and on. Can you remember how you started getting tired of sinning and being tired of the world? Can you remember how God saved you, sanctified you and filled you with the Holy Ghost? Can you remember how God had compassion on your soul? Can you remember how God set you free? Can you remember how God embraced you and judged you? Can you remember?

If you can remember, then why is it that you can't remember when it comes to the people in your life and the people around you who aren't saved, you forget or the sinful life you used to lead? For some reason, you can't tolerate sinners. Maybe they remind you of yourself. Why do you judge them so harsh? Maybe their sins are worse than yours...so you think! What if God couldn't deal or refused to deal with you? Where would you be? God something good in you and He gave you a chance. He forgave you of your sins and now you live a Holy and righteous life. He saved your soul and made you whole. God had mercy and you and He showed you love and compassion.

When you feel the urge to judge and treat others with no mercy, remember that day God saved you and turned your life around. Tell yourself if He could could do it for me, I know that He could do it for my brother. Think about your actions and about what would Jesus do. It's okay to hate sin, but love your brother. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son; that whosoever believeth on Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16) Can you remember?
