NO TIME FOR JESUS
By Marian Powell

It's funny how we find time for everything else except for our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. What is wrong with this picture? We don't make time to acknowledge him first the morning because we're running late. We have to make it on our job on time all through the week, but when Sunday comes, we're tired. "The Lord knows my heart" or "I'll make it next Sunday" is what we always say. Sounds familiar? We say that we want to do better and we want to serve God the way He deserves to be served. Then why don't we make any effort and sacrifice to come and dwell in His presence? That's the question we must ask ourselves. Here are some of the excuses we make as to why we don't pray, fast read, acknowledge, serve, dwell in his presence, praise and worship the Lord:

I'm tired
I have to clean up
I need time to myself
I'm going out wth my husband/wife
I'm going to the movies
I'm going to take a nap
I have to call my friend
I'm going out of town
I have to take care of some business
I need to spend time with my children
I have to go grocery shopping
I have to buy a new outfit
I have to kick it with my friends
I'm going to take a nap
I'm going to relax, relate and release

...and the list goes on and on. These excuses are always followed by ,"I'll do it later". But remember...later is not promised to us.

What if God didn't make time for us when we're on our knees crying to God saying, "Lord I need you right now...help me!" The Lord says that I'm busy right now...I'll get back with you later. This is a God who has all power and all control. He's our creator and our maker. God promised to take care of all of our needs and all we have to do is serve him and be obedient to his word. How hard is that? God is faithful to us, but we too often take him for granted.

Take time out for the Lord because he deserves his time. He wants us to grow closer to him so that we may have a better relationship with him. We need tro learn who God is to us in our lives. God is supposed to be a part of our lives like brushing our teeth, taking a bath and putting on our clothes. These things we automatically do without thinking. Get into the habit of praying, reading, fasting and worshipping. God will bless us and he will be proud to call us his children. Stop putting God on the backburner and make time for him. Our day will be fulfilled with his wonderful anonting. We will also be able to face whatever may come our way...whether it's good or bad. Don't get caught up in the cares of this life...get caught up in Jesus Christ.
